Travis LTD and ibea have now partnered together to bring test and inspection systems to the North and South American Packaging Industry.
Ibea Inspection Systems differ in comparison to those of others in that they are extremely customer and product-oriented in their hard- and software design. Ibea systems are deployed predominantly in the inspection of cans, ends, PT/TO caps, bottles or similar products within the metal packaging industry. Long-standing experiences of our mechanical engineers are at the center of our innovative hard and software.
ibea uses only high quality camera, lens and illumination equipment – a key concept in developing sophisticated image inspection systems. The illumination elements are geared exactly towards the product needs by using durable LED’s for the inspection of highly reflective products.
ibea components comply with the highest industry standards and secure system stability in harsh production environments for a long-lasting, maintenance-free, around the clock performance. Through remote diagnostics we are capable of checking functions and settings at lightning speed. Accessories, such as camera lift or zoom lens (autosave) further enhance your flexibility if changeover in height and diameter is required.

Seam Scanner
A Seam Scanner is necessary for measurement and documentation of the can part, where bottom and wall are melded to a so called seam. This seam is sliced by a double-saw blade, cleaned and then positioned on a plateau. Turning the can enables an easy adjustment of the focus. The images are used by adequate image processing software which processes an automatic measurement of 7 metrics by comparing them with pre-entered reference values. Results of this measurement and its reference values are statistically secured.
CVC Cap Vacuum Checker The CVC Cap Vacuum Checker is a simple system for offline check of so called button-values of TO-caps. This system measures the vacuum values flip-on and flip-off fully automatically. Scheduled values for all common TO-diameters are already given by the system. For each different diameter of TO-caps (30-110 mm) corresponding adapter heads exist as accessory. Output of the measured values happens via the built-in protocol printer (optional) or via an Ethernet modem which is connected to a quality management system and can be received as accessory part.
Measurement of compound height / Laser based systems Differences of injected compound height in PT- or TO-caps are not or hard to detect by human eyes. However the control of irregularities is enormous important because the cap does not lock correctly in case of inequalities and a contamination of the bin-content is highly probable.
The new system enables a fully automated, easy applicable compound height measurement of PT- or TO-caps of approx. 30 to 110 mm diameter. Applicable for all current compound types up to a height of approx. 10 mm. The manually placed cap is tightened by a magnet to a pre-calibrated reference area and subsequently centered in an automatically electro mechanic way. Afterwards a laser (laser resolution = ? 10 ?m) scans the compound by using a triangulation method. Measurement is finished by the output of compound height and compound lining. The detection of the compound height difference (DiP) is effected with an accuracy of 0,05 mm. Change of different cap sizes does not occur readjustment as this runs fully automated.
